The One Question That Changed My Whole Life

“What are you doing with your life?”

One Friday noon in March, I found the guy in front of my room hung himself.

At the time, I lived in a hostel where our rooms were pretty close to each other. It’s that close that I could hear him taking a shower at 12 am at night or the music he listened to.

His cousin came over when the incident happened, and she told me he’s been through some bad depression for years.

After that one day, things aren’t the same anymore. That event hit me to the core. Weirdly, that same week, I’d been complaining about how sucks life was.

There was some stress coming from work and stupid office drama, big issues with my family, and a fight I had with my boyfriend.

I was so overwhelmed and thought life was so hard that I no longer wanted to be part of it anymore.

Apparently, someone else in front of my room had been having this thought for a while and decided that one Friday, he’d end his life.

As I mourned his loss too, it also made me reevaluate everything that I have in my life. Sometimes it takes one big event to happen for you to get the ‘wake-up call”.
