I almost killed my relationship this year.
Too many unrealistic expectations are dangerous. The truth is, it’s easy to focus on what our partner doesn’t have — rather than appreciating his/her best traits.
We have hundreds of suggestions of how they could be better, kinder, more understanding, etc.
What about us? We are surely not perfect.
That’s all this year is all about for me. And I’m sure many can relate. That’s why many people love the newest song by Taylor Swift, “Anti-Hero”.
Because it’s relatable.
But 2022 is almost over and in 2023, I’d like to start fresh. Which also means ditching the old habits that only have the potential to ruin my relationship.
Shutting down when there’s a heated argument
There’s a difference between hitting the “pause” button during arguments and storming off to avoid hard discussion.
I’m not proud I’ve done many of those this year. I came from a family who hates confrontation — in all forms.
