It’s not one of those “made it” stories

I was one of those writers on this platform who quit their 9–5 because they managed to make more than $2000/month. This was all the way back in 2021.

I started writing religiously and hitting the ‘publish’ button every day in late 2020 — just right when I felt like my corporate job in digital marketing suffocated me. I’d write like a maniac every night after my work was done and spend my weekends locked up in my room doing some more writing.

I did it for 6 months straight with one article published every day and it sums up how I managed to quit my 9–5 job. Looking back, I wish I could be more mentally prepared for what’s to come.

Because the truth is, “being your own boss” isn’t as great as the internet makes it to be.

It’s been 3 years since I quit my corporate job and made content writing my full-time income. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done and I’m not even talking about the inconsistency of the money coming in every month.

I’m talking about how lonely it becomes over time. How much overthinking you do every single day and basically the lack of discipline kill your growth.
